Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
